I have a question about the placement of my radar unit. I'm not worried about LIDAR, but will the horizontal fake plastic chrome strips reduce my radar sensitivity? I copied\pasted the unit to show where it is. The top half of the two antenna horn bumps are hidden behind the plastic chrome, the bottom half completely open.

I'm hoping since it's not real chrome, then it's OK. I'm not against taking the front end off again and lowering the unit 1/2 inch if it makes a difference.

Keith, thanks for the pictures, I also have the same car, how long did it take you to complete the install and how is it working. I found a place here to install a 5 sensor system and they want to charge me 1300-1500 dollars. Of course that was after I turned down their attempts to sale me the Escort CI.

It took me about one hour to pull off the front fascia. Total job for the front was about 8 hours (I work slow). I had to do it a 2nd time because I thought the antenna was pushing against the lower grill so I moved it back an inch or so. It went faster the 2nd time since I didn't have to do any wiring.

I split the front and the rear onto two separate jobs. The 2 sensor rear adds about another 4 hours.

I had it tested and it works pretty well, but not perfect. The mirrors caused a little bit of a problem so I have to allow for that risk.

Keith, when you say "not perfect", what Laser guns did it NOT perform well against?

Sounds like a good price on the install.
I couldn't tell you the specifics on which gun gave me intermitant breakthroughs on the mirrors
I had it tested 2 years ago and seem to have lost the results chart.

We figured most likely the LEO would target the front first, so I would be notified and acted appropriately before any shot to the mirrors.

Enjoy your Impala. We now have about 50k miles on ours and still loving it.

Scotch tape on my brand spanking new paint.

When using goo gone, DO NOT use paper towels, only soft cloth or it will leave tiny scratches.
