So it looks like there's an updated version of the sticky cup now and with it I'm seeing noticeably less bouncing than before. Here's the difference.

The old version is on the left. The new version is on the right.

Notice the bottom part under the screw. The newer one has a much smaller piece of plastic and the tang is closer to the screw itself. There's less leverage against the screw this way. Here's another look.

This new version is awesome. (This isn't the first time the sticky cups were updated. They were also updated a while ago when the magnetic mount was released. Those "old" ones I have now were "new" ones at the time the magnetic mount came out and they are less bouncy than the original sticky cups were.)

However, this newest one with the smaller piece of plastic is the newest one I've seen. It comes with the Max360 and it's AWESOME. Despite the Max360's size, it makes the detector solid! The 360 bounces WAY less than the Max2 or GT-7 does.

Interestingly, the mounts are all cross-compatible meaning you can use this new 360 sticky cup mount with the Max2 or GT-7.

Prior to me receiving the 360 I was testing the GT-7. I told Larry about the bouncing issues and he sent me a replacement sticky cup. Turns out it was the same one that comes with the 360 so I now have 4 sticky cups total.

The two on the right with the smaller piece of plastic and tangs closer to the big main screw are the new sticky cup. The two on the left are the older Max2 and GT-7 sticky cups. You'll notice there's differences in the design of the two left sticky cups too. The tang goes farther back on one while the other is about half the size. They both extend out equally far though. It looks like Escort has indeed been experimenting over time to try and address the bouncy Max issue.

I have no idea about what the process is in terms of getting a newer version or anything like that, but this new version is what we've wanted all along and it looks like it's taken care of the whole bouncy detector issue.

I'll go out and do a video comparison soon so you can see the difference. :)

Is Radenso gonna come out with something like this or stay with the smaller suction cups? It would seem that there are a lot of options in the after market field. That tells me there is a pretty big block of RD owners getting away from them. I just saw some pictures of permanent WS mounts. I guess not a big deal at this point, but worth asking.

This would be a good question for the Radenso section of the forum. I think the only other mount that Radenso/Genvo are working on is the visor mount, but even that is on hold for sufficient demand to be expressed by the market.

Topic 'cup' + 'less bouncy' I was thinking of something else entirely.

The sticky cup I used before going to a permanent mount was pretty solid. I did have problems even with sticky cup when making big elevation changes where it almost always let go when I hit 7500 feet over Donner Summit... other than that it was great.

Vortex, would you believe your Max 360 sticky cup is EXACTLY like the one that came with my 2 year old Max? That must be why I never had the bouncing issues with my Max that others reported. I wonder why they are calling this version new?

Yes it does - it's identical!

And by the way, I enjoy reading your posts - I learn a lot!

You're right. My bad. Shouldn't have asked. Thanks for mentioning that.
No worries man, just thought I'd point you in that direction so that the Michael would have a better chance of seeing it.

But of course you will. :)
Still meaning to get another video up. Just been busy focusing on the 360 itself lately. I haven't forgotten. Sorry it's taking a little while. :)

Just went out today to do a side-by-side with the new sticky cup and the old. This isn't the greatest example ever, but you can see that both detectors are more solid on the new sticky cup and more bouncy on the old one. The Max360 also seems more solid in general. The Max2 slides side to side a bit more.
