We used the same course as the last test: https://www.rdforum.org/showthread.php?t=39545

First thing to note, the Bee III was not functioning properly, so we did not get those results.

Instead of having the Falcon HR horizontal like we did last time, we had it vertical, like how most police would use it, which we see a huge increase in detection.

During the K band testing, the * denotes a large pickup had parked in front of the radar vehicle. As we can see, it had no noticeable difference in detection. The ** denotes the first alert dropped for a moment at 1,478', but it was picked up and eventually dropped off at 2,428'. We even had some fun and did band specific testing (K only, drop Ka from detection, denoted as r2).

How did the Stinger VIP do against LIDAR? Not so well.

We did have a little bit of fun with LIDAR too. If you have never had the opportunity to shoot a LE-10, it is pretty fun, especially when you shoot multiple guns against it.

Click here for part 2 for the more fun stuff.

Redline and latest V1 seem to be still king with good results. What was the humidity/weather temps/conditions? Thank you for sharing the results and the hard work that goes into testing.

What is the FILM? In the 2 Laser Tests? Was it locked from 1100 feet in or just random PT's?

I'm seeing similar results with my tests. I told you guys not to count out the V1 and Redline just yet. Considering Stinger's price tag it should have done much better IMHO, but I would like to have seen the install on the test vehicle. If you happen to have a picture of where it was mounted that would be useful. I'm seeing significant differences in overall reception based on the mounting location (high vs low, behind bumper vs outside of bumper, center of window vs a-pillar). Also the number of antenna's and their configuration also make a big difference. Also curious what happened to the Stinger on the 35.5 test? That is where it really shines! oh well...

Low powered, polarized K band will do that to you. Also as we found out at the last meet, not only is the detection reduced but the effective kill zone is also reduced. It's a double edged sword where the officer definitely gets less range.

Just these guns or k band in general? B/c all the k band I have ran into when I get close enough will peg my redline at full bars whereas all the ka I have ever ran into no matter how close has never fully pegged out my redline. It will be strong enough to give me a solid tone but not light up all bars

The Stinger did not shine on 35.5 in this test! It failed to alert at all. So there must be some firmware or hardware glitch.

It depends more on the gun and the antenna design. It was easier to clock my G8 GT, that I used to own, with K band than with Ka band. The Genesis VP K band radar (not a low powered gun) could clock my G8 at a greater distance, and is easier to detect, than a Stalker Dual SL. The HR is a low powered K band gun so the tables are turned in that case.
