CT- 4Runner - ALP - V1/RedLine/Waze
Finally decided to put my 04 Acura TL with over 250k into semi retirement and get a new CM vehicle. It took a lot of time to find just the right candidate that had all the traits needed in the ultimate CM vehicle and fit my needs but i finally decided on the 2014 Mazda 3 GT.

Knowing i did not want to peace it all together over time like I did with the TL i went all out from the start with some serious help from my install buddy SoundConcepts.

Upgrades and CM's:
-Tinted windows.
-ALP, 2 front 1 rear.
-PYTHON 5706P security and remote start with window control upgrade and 2 way communication up to 1 mile.
-RedLine BS/RDR.
-V1 with YaV1.
-Laser targeting system.

The Mazda 3 has the perfect grill for any CM installation, hides the heads very well and has lots of placement options.

Interior CM placement:

Red circle on left is V1 remote mute, red circle right/center is ALP control.

Android phone placement for apps like EL, Waze, YaV1 ect... And HUD.
[video=youtube;-zlTfxEMueU]

RedLine left, V1 right. Used mounting tape to secure mount for V1 on dots and steel custom bracket for RedLine:

Took quite some time getting it all together but over all a very clean straight forward install.

A few negative notes.

- Mazda 3 has a very tight fit and finish and many parts are permanently put together like the front nose that's riveted together and the front dash that's pretty much one peace.
- ALP was relatively easy to install, heads are nice and small for placement but the cable length is just way too short for rear installs, especially on a hatch back. The 3 is a small car and i was still 3ft short cable for the rear head and the CPU was installed by me feet. We made a RJ25 cable extension that fixed that issue.
- The V1 CD and remote volume do not seem to work with the BT dongle and YaV1 when set up together, never shows settings and lags.

Night video to come showing off LED light system, HUD infotainment system and laser targeting system. ;)

ALP testing:

X2 = 2 runs

Yellow = PT

The testing was done on a rainy day, and though it had stopped raining there was some mist kicked up from the rear that we thought helped. You cant see the only PT's on the rear were i had no head.

The results:

JTG_zpsc03a49f1.png

I had to move my fronts in closer to the 21":

For the winter i downsized to 16" steel rims (better weight distribution, steel rims are more durable and better side wall on tire) and i added the best snow tire ever made, the Vredestein SNOWTRAC 5:

My hill from my house to anywhere i go (darn good breaking IMO):

[video=youtube;tjhzpQB4MWw]
Had about 8" of snow on my steep driveway. All i can say is Wow.

[video=youtube;gBzV_JsBPWk]
Had a dry pavement encounter and the Snow Track 5's did well handling it:

[video=youtube;eZXFMFn3DJk]
A few more videos showing snow handling.

Probably 3-4", didn't slip at all.
[video=youtube;MAw393f-Yww]

I was moving reasonably, lateral handling was impressive on this semi packed 3" of snow.

I got this cup holder display peace at work and it works awsome as a tablet holder for the car:

Whats with the single head on the rear all the way to the right? Are you planning on adding another one on the left side? If not you need to put that head in the center.

Why didn't you just get the last head for the rear?

Other than that looks good

When shot in the rear they seem to consistently do it from on ramps (right side targeting the plate/center) so they will have to shoot passed the ALP head on the right to target the plate/center. My rear single Zr4 head did a fine job protecting me and since the ALP is an all around better performer it should do better then the single rear ZR4 head even if its to the right which IMO is a better placement spot if only using one head.

Its just a way to change it up, test the limits, have some fun. I may add another head if i start to see rear targeting happening more, but probably not.

I was able to get, the remote audio unit, the concealed display and, the blue tooth dongle all connected and working. If you've seen this diagram a million times please don't be offended. I connected everything together as indicated but used an rj11 splitter I got from radio shack and plugged it into the accessory port. This way you can run the blue tooth dongle and the concealed display out of the same port. There is plenty of amperage to do it. You should also be able to control the volume through the remote audio adapter. I stopped using the remote audio adapter because I just didn't find it loud enough. You can even have both the V1 and, the adapter producing sound at the same time but, I didn't like the way the remote audio adapter would cut off alerts in mid beep and, it just didn't sound the same as the V1 itself. Why did I get the audio remote to begin with? The wife sits on the side where the V1 is mounted. Thought I would put the V1 sound on my side along with the Stir Plus speaker. Didn't produce the type of sound and volume I wanted so I got rid of the Remote Audio adapter.

Also, what did you discover with the blind spot monitor? I remember you saying at one point that you found it to be truly switchable? When I get rid of my Flex eventually I would seriously take a look at the Mazda 3 as long at the blind spot monitor does not transmit on demand. I had to do a physical disconnect to defeat mine in the Flex. It was a real PIA.

I may have an option for your installation, if you are willing to work with me on the side. I can make a 3 way split Invisicord for your vehicle, giving you a line down to your CD, a line to your bluetooth dongle, and a line to your detector, with power coming from some overhead or mirror harness. Just PM me, and we can talk about what kind of solution I can provide, and at a steep discount to the expected full price later. You won't need the splitter or savvy or a radio shack rj11 contraption.

It will be something very close to this, but with a shorter "octopus" and I can provide extensions for any 2 of the 3 lines for wherever you need lines going.

Hmm, i used the same diagram and rj11 splitter but it did not completely work. Maybe i had a bad cable. In the end YaV1 was a much better option to use exclusively.

As for the blind spot monitor it works in the undetectable range of our RD's. It is also switchable, but not necessary.

if your going to have one might as well have two. the cost of another head is far less then a ticket, why wait till its too late?

Why have two when one is more than enough. ;)

HAhahaha, its not you, no one knows what it is. I knew the single rear head would distract from the other content, its a shame we can be more interested in picking apart any flaws for perfection over the fun of the hobby.

Have you ever seen what a 20+mw green laser can do to a balloon or someones eye? ;)

Oh damn, don't end up in jail lol. I remember reading about some guy about to get like 5 years in prison for shining a laser at a helicopter.

I think ill be adding a BlackVue DR600GW-HD or the 650 as well as upgrading the sound system, Bose is not as good as one would think.

Clean install -- looks like you are as "OCD" about clean installs as I am ! Love it. :thumbsup:

Is that HUD aftermarket?

Do you run your M3 with your V1 simultaneously?

Thanks. :)

The HUD comes with the Mazda 3 in the higher end Touring models, pretty cool because its a real HUD and not projected on the windshield. It also does GPS directions through it. Maybe i can get my V1 arrows in it too.

I run the V1 with YaV1 every day and use the RedLine simultaneously with the V1 when needed, high speeds really windy roads ect.

I have to say this Mazda 3 is a blast on back rods and the highway, its got some serious pull and agility.
