Got this unit for a stupid low price so I bought it. I wanted to see the ins and out of how radar acted and its accuracy, reliability and usefulness. I figured if i know how the games worked i would know how to play it...haha
I tore everything apart and sanded it and painted everything.

Also soldered a new 3.5mm cable onto the remote cause the original was all nasty and busted up.

The Eagle unit has a detachable display so i needed to make a custom cable, they are serial connectors but don't think you can get away with just a serial cable. I bought a male and female connector from radioshack and used an old VGA cable to connect it up, the VGA cable had enough wires in it to make that work.

Awesome! I thought the display separated like that but wasn't sure, any details on that? I'm thinking about installing mine too except putting the antenna in the grille to be a little more stealth.

Yeah they looked to be water proof when I dismantled everything, but being a 199x system I didn't trust all those years to keep it that way.
Yes the display does come off, and I think they probably sell a extension cable...but basically all you would need to do it is a male and female serial connector and 11 wires to solder it all together. You can pm me for more questions or I can even make one for you if you would like.
Sadly there wasnt much place to install the antenna in my grill.

Nah I can make the cable, I was just curious how far I have to open it up to separate them.

Not very far...two long screws hold the front piece to the back.

@ersin
i mainly did this to see how the police manages to use radar and how accurate or inaccurate it is. If anything I would use it if I saw a cop I/Oing I would turn some C/O for a half a minute. But I'm sure the opportunity will arise when I see some ones cobra in their windshield and I pop a couple shots off haha

Very slick! Remember though that it's a federal offense to transmit radar without a license with large fines. It's not illegal to have it in the car, but if you're pulled over, have your spiel figured out about how you're going to answer if you were using it etc. there is a carve out for low powered k band guns like the bushnells but I don't think it applies to more powerful k band units.

"Officer this is timing equipment for when I go to Road Atlanta"

You cannot see the control box unless you open the compartment and the Kustom tags are not on the antennas.

Yeah but any LEO that's paying attention will notice those are radar antennas. Just be smart with it and don't use it flagrantly and get called in. Just wanted to make sure you were aware.

I doubt most LEOs know about the FCC rules.

NP, just want to keep you from getting like a $50k fine. You may want to look at putting a hat or something over the rear antenna. I doubt a LEO would see the front passenger side unless we was looking for it
