I had a nice long range 33.8 detection a week ago. now the environment was probably near perfect. Long range hill to hill type of detection. The video is compiling and i'll upload it when its done and post here.
I was travelling 60-70 in the video until the very end where I meet the cop on the side of town I was approaching from. The cop was likely averaging about 30 through said town as it approached me. The road is windy, so as the crow flies, its a 3-4 mile detection I'd estimate. The 're-detection' as we got closer was nice as well. everything is on auto mute so you have to listen closely to hear it continues to alert both the first and second times it detects the 33.8.

Does get a POP false near the end as well (why would they run POP if they are really running CO 33.8??) I assume that's not even possible on the gun. You just use POP when you aren't running CO.
Video shortly....
Oh the camera is a lukas 7900 I just got last week as well. very happy with it so far.

That is one INSANE road!

awesome detection too, I don't think that there was any POP involved here and the detection was so great because you were up so high.

Yes, when towing anything up the road the other way you have a pretty good tow vehicle if you can go 55 with it floored....7% grade in spots.

Yes, it was a pretty lucky timing in that right while the windy road faced toward the town, I was also very high up and the officer was likely a little high up on the other side of town too (the town is at the bottom of a valley as you can see..)
The town is Horseshoe Bend, ID

When the reciever or the transmitter is high amazing things happen.
If both are high it's ridiculous!

Been to Horseshoe Bend a few times when I lived in Meridian. Lots if good 4-wheeler trails. 33.8 is really starting to show up in ID. I had ISP driving down Yellowstone ave. in poky running c/o ISP, Bannock Cty, PPD, and I heard Idaho Falls is running it also.

The fact it reported POP at the end was interesting.
I don't know why or how, but sometimes it reports POP when it's getting a CO 33.8 signal. At least that's what I think. Not sure what the tolerances are for whether or not a 33.8 is POP. some ms range of detection i'm guessing. Truthfully they should disable POP detection and just call it enhanced 33.8 scanning. just report it as 33.8 but scan it more frequently enough to catch POP signals consistently.

also, having POP enabled may have extended my 33.8 range overall. Even though it doesn't detect the first signals as POP, it still has to scan 33.8 more aggressively to also be able to possibly catch a POP, result possibly being better 33.8 detection overall? Either way, I haven't detected what I think was a legit POP source, but with all the 33.8 ISPs around here, i'm leaving POP on in the hopes it may enhanced 33.8 overall and not hurt the rest of the scan too much?? They claim it doesn't hurt the rest of the frequencies at all. Depending on how narrow the 33.8 range is that they overscan, that's probably true.

I just wish someone could post some test results of how POP effects 33.8 I/O ability of M4 platform. If it detects them well then we will know that it makes a big difference for those that face 33.8 Ka threat. Maybe Nine1c can tell us a little more about that.
