Its been killing me not to be able to share my impressions of the Max with you guys since I was under NDA with Escort. But I was happy to do it because we have one hell of a RD on our hands and hopefully some of the data Nine and I provided to Escort will help refine the Max even more.

The first week of driving with the Max was brutal because there was nothing but rain and all the LEO's seemed to be hiding and no real amazing encounters, some were quite good and similar to my V1C, others were fine but i felt they could have been better.

Over all I am very impressed with the capability's of the Max, there is no other RD as fast as the Max and with its refined ability to see more signals and full digital capability's the Max has a lot of potential.

Nine and i decided after a few weeks of driving with the Max it was time for some definitive testing, the testing was done under the most difficult circumstances to see if this unit can keep up with the best of the best (results tonight!).
Many of us have been speculating if its as sensitive as the RedLine, better than a V1 or is it just M4 performance. For now I will say though it doesn't have RedLine M3 performance it has a lot better performance than a M4 and very close to a V1C. But what makes this truly a great product is its ability to get updates for performance and filtering, and of course TrueLock GPS filtering! ;)

Ill add more videos mid week but here are some initial ones on the Max:

Ah cool, thanks for the videos and that's exciting to hear that you'll have some test results to share soon.

When you say that it doesn't have Redline performance, are you talking about sheer long range sensitivity?

He means that it doesnt have it YET, BUT with firmware updates it COULD and more!!! Reportedly, from my intel, on the faster/fastest shots, it doesnt miss a beat!!

Nine did a review on the Escort forum and he indicated it does NOT have better long range than the Redline as of yet!

Good to know, then the Redline is still the long range king. It's trully amazing the results achieved with the BS RDR update.

Range...Don't we have enough of that already (ie: Redline, STi-R, etc.). How about improved selectivity and quickness to distance IO.

That's what I am really hoping for. Handle better what it CAN see instead of hoping for greater distance in what it can't...

I know, I know, you can never have enough range... :)

I am with you VG, selectivity advantage is way over looked by us enthusiasts. In many ways it has a greater advantage over pure long rage sensitivity. But they are both important.

I'm ok with less range than the Redline.

I actually pre ordered because of QT and POP which is used very much by Carson City Sheriff, Douglas Cnty and a the NHP in my area. I think the quick response times will help this new Max pay for itself.

Nine's video demonstrated very impressive POP detection.

Wow, this review sure blew my mind away. I never thought it would be that good. The one thing that I found really bad, is the loooong trail after the radar signal is gone. 16 seconds!!! Try that in pop mode, It'll make you wanna throw it out of the windshield.

So the Max is technically faster at picking up really quick shots, but both the V1 and Redline can catch <edit> shots which are about the fastest you'll see in the real world, though maybe this'll help for catching quick whiffs of radar at a distance.

The Redline still wears the crown when it comes to long range.

Not only that, but this thing is also falsing more than previous detectors, both K and Ka. Perhaps this'll be changed with production models?

So far, this makes me less than blown away...

I'm guessing they'll fix this. Or better yet: let the trail time be a user defined option.

    Cheers.

This morning people where talking about radio signals and the curvature of the earth, lol. So it's about as good as a Redline range wise, that seems more reasonable. I love my 9500ix and would not mind getting the lockout feature on a RD with Redline range. Live works OK to lock stuff out but I actually like truelock pretty well and things stay locked out better on my IX.

But, as the gentleman from TX will ask, is it better than a V1C?? We know its quicker!!

The long latch on time must be fixed quick. Escort does not think about our really high mounts for the button issue.

I'm really hoping that they refined trulock with the DSP to prevent locking out LEOs. Not trying to re-open that can of worms, but that would be a welcomed development

Easy to do with the firmware fix!!

---------- Post added at 03:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:09 PM ----------

Just dont run Truelock like I do. . I know that CJR loves it, but I prefer it off.

---------- Post added at 03:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ----------

Its like anything, depends on where you use it!!! I never understood how the guys out west (Rags, Open etc.) pined away for longer range until I drove some of their roads. They never understood my need for RLCs etc until they got a RLC ticket or went to a large metro area where the Red Light Cams are as numerous as the taxes. So, as Open said, he'd love to see a 20 mile range on the unit whereas I would love both range when I am on the highway BUT a LOT of selectivity when I am in a metro area. If this thing is a quiet as we can hope in firmware updates, then we're ON to something.

For those who havent seen it, check out Mike's (Nine's) vid of the response times. WOW!! http://youtu.be/He3PelfE73o
