Well if there is calibration happening after a sweep, interleaving should help since the V1 can work immediately on the next band /sweep while calibrating the last ran sweep.

Again, only noticeable at great distances or situations where increased reactivity makes a difference.

Like a guard looking at a foxhole to the right, then left, then right, then left (interleaving) vs looking right, looking right again, looking right again, then looking left, left, left, then back to right and so on. (consecutive or redundant)
Agreed. Which is why I've given up the madness of searching for the perfect sweep pattern(redundant, interleaved, tight, heavier on 34.7 vs 35.5, etc, etc, etc) and come full circle to having only one sweep per band(34.7 & 35.5) leaving the other 3 sweep slots empty. Under the laws of physics, isn't this the absolute fastest, most efficient way to scan the relevant frequencies? Any more time spent than necessary on any one area is handicapping you elsewhere in the spectrum. Even if 34.7 is used 98% in your area, there still seems to be zero benefit to adding an extra sweep for it. You'll still have to wait for the 35.5 sweep at some point, and in the meantime you've actually lost performance on 35.5. Additional sweeps just don't make sense to me anymore; They actually seem counterproductive.

Reactivity is the real benefit. Valentine obviously believes this or they wouldn't grasp for pop abilities without sweeping 5 times before it made them happy to get the reactance they wanted for pop.

Sweeping once does the job but then there is a tighter area that you frequent seeing 90 percent of the time that you may want to go increase the reactance to at the expense of taking more time to come back around to your wide sweep, but those outer edges are just insurance anyway.

If you sweep the edges often too "assuming a single sweep accomplishes that" it takes time to get through the wide sweep so takes away time from the middle.

I noticed VR indeed sweeps portions of K & 33.8 to obtain pop but it was only a "portion".... Why didn't they just sweep the whole band 5 times? It's because you can't have it all unless all is watered down.

Where do you want processor attention and time to get focused?

This is all debatable and so subliminal I don't think it even matters in 99 percent of real driving cases.

But it certainly helped the redline when they started segmenting against the initial advice of their own engineers.

Excellent explanation. You now have me second guessing redundant sweeps again.

But I always assumed the 5 sweeps for POP was to ensure that there would never be a gap in time of more than 67ms before the V1 is back checking 33.8 again.
What is the average QT time? I'm guessing 200-300ms which, to me, would eliminate the need for multiple redundant sweeps of the same area. A single sweep of 34.7 & 35.5 would surely be fast enough to catch a QT.
Perhaps detecting a faint whiff may be enhanced with redundant sweeps, but how can that be soundly proven?

First, prob the main thing helping is the custom sweep on that it's tossing band not needed to be swept.

Second, sweeping multiple times in my mind basically steals attention away from something else that WOULD have been swept. But I could of course be wrong.

The real geek's on this stuff is nine_C1 and company.

Help please! I've been logging over the last month and need some help setting up a custom sweep for my local area. 70% of my Ka hits are 33Mhz. The low end goes from 33693 to 33868. 30% are at the high end, and are 34670 to 35536. Right now I'm running the following:

34593 34770
34774 34833
35394 35615

Let me know what you guys think.

The police radar guns are licensed to run 100MHz+- of 33.8GHz, 34.7GHz, 35.5GHz, so you'll probably want to keep your sweeps the way they are. Disabling ka-guard is the first big win since it alerts on the initial detection of a signal rather than requiring more scans to rule out leaky RD harmonics before alerting, followed by custom sweeps reducing the Ka superwide-band from 33.4-36GHz (2.6GHz) to just about 600MHz, which means the V1 can scan more quickly and increase it's detection sensitivity.

I agree, looks like your covered for the 34.7 guns as well as 35.5 guns, remember the 33.8 band is already swept internally so your custom sweeps don't need that range in them.

That makes sense. But, I do sweep 35.5 more because that's all I have in my area for Ka band. I do have sweeps for 34.7 for when I travel, but even then I've never encountered anything but 35.5 Ka and very seldom some K band. Even though 35.5 is dominant in my area I wonder if I would be better off just having simple sweeps, i.e. one sweep for 34.7 and 35.5 and leave the other slots empty? What's your opinion oh guru of V1 and YaV1? ;)

Well there's differences of opinion... Many folks who's been doing this longer than me do simple sweeps.

However I've never been one to go with the norm if it doesn't click in my mind.

Again, there are charts I believe hiddencam did that show the benefits of using pop which increases reactivity and exactly how fast it is in milliseconds showing the improvements that we don't like to post on the open forum where leo can see.

I'll be glad to send a pm of the chart to anyone with intermediate status or higher.

But pop is internally instituted by valentine to increase sweeps from one to five concerning 33.8 and portions of K band as demonstrated in the above chart.

If they use multiple sweeps to achieve this it stands to reason we can duplicate the same effect on 35.5 or 34.7.

Reality is the benefits are seldom recognized since quick trigger is seldom used in most places and catching a flicker in the distance of I/O is also hard to prove or disprove.

But if I predominantly saw 35.5, I would simply use a profile weighted towards 35.5 and let the cards fall where they may.

Thanks Alan. I've been trying to find the best blend having tried redundant, interleaved, etc sweeps. Right now I have a 35.5 set as my first sweep with it repeated in the second box following the idea you mentioned regarding multiple 33.8 sweeps. I'm really not satisfied with the range I'm getting so I think I'll load up the set you posted and see how they do. One question. The last sweep is very wide in 35.xxx; is it to catch 35.2? We don't have any of that band in my state so I could either leave the last box blank or do another 35.xx sweep.

Oops, I'm so sorry for the Confusion!
I grabbed this pic too quick!
The 35.2 must have looked like 35.5..i wasn't paying attention

Here is the weighted 35.5 profile... Sorry about that!
uploadfromtaptalk1457290873096.jpg

But remember, there's not really a "first - top of the list" that the V1 scans... Only how often.

Yes maybe the first millisecond you turn V1 on but after that it just goes!

As to what order, sequence, or pattern we don't really know.... Just how often.

Hi everyone. I' new on this thread and I also new in using V1 and its my first detector. I lived here in Alberta Canada. do you have any suggestions on the customs sweep that I should be using? thank you.

Not sure what the best settings are for up there. Maybe wrxsti15 or Dukes have an idea?

can someone enhance me with this situation.
before when I first use/couple of days of my V1, when I am passing the intersection with "red light camera" and some intersection that I knew there is a camera my V1 is alerting me with that threat but after I customized it my V1 is not alerting me anymore with the same intersection/threat. Is my V1 filtered it out? thanks
