I picked up V1 about 2 weeks ago and I used settings that were suggested on the other forum. (Not sure if I can mention name here but its not mine). It seems the front detection is a lot less sensitive then the rear detection. I believe it was a post that CJR238 made about V1 settings. K band is really horrible. I would say front detection on k band doors is about the same as the M4 antenna. Is this right? Or should it be better?

Yea. The 3.872 does seem crappy on K band. My Redline kicks its butt.

My 3.819 is awesome on K band but it's terrible against Ka 35.5. I have heard the new V1's do better against Ka band but worse against K band. I still see a ton on K band in GA so I am just going to stick with mine for now, and maybe sometime buy a new V1 and compare.

I got my V1 in Oct 09 and it kicks ass on K band and Ka band except for 35.5 off axis. I've had some close calls with off axis Ka especially in Hellginia (VA). I try to run it on Ka Guard off on rural highway trips. I ran it with Ka guard off on I-95 and it wouldn't shut the HELL up. So many falses due to all the retards from every state using crappy Cobras.

Let me know when you tire of this V1, I'll find a good home for it.

IMO K band should be better on your unit. K isn't great but its not bad, and the rear antenna is supposedly more sensitive to off axis than the front.

I would say the v1 K band detection is between M4 and M3. For off axis and weak shots, v1 will smoke an M4. But K performance is a lot worse off axis compared to an M3 (redline in my case). The previous v1 (3.872) that I owned was really good on K band but sucked on Ka band specially 35.5 but the new one I have is hot on Ka and so so on K. I'd rather have M4 performance on K band than sub-par Ka performance. Its just a toss up on 3.872, some are great and some not so great.

Be like Mike (9C1) and keep them on a 30 day trial till you find a keeper;)

My 3.825 V1 balls at K band. The sensitivity and responsiveness amaze me.

Some swear by the older models, and maybe that's why. Sorry you don't like your new one.

There is no censorship here no worries ;)
I hear so much mixed things about new V1s. I think I'll hold onto my 3.813 for awhile and send it in for a tune up.

I am calling V1 Today to see about sending it in to have it checked. Anyone have a clue how long turnaround it is from V1?

There is 1 local PD in my area that uses K-band. My 3.872 eats it from a mile away, sometimes more.

I would say, check the basics first:

1. Mounting position

2. What is the terrain like?

Man, I had that same problem for a while with mine. For me, it was all about my mounting position. I experimented with different positions for a while; some sucked, some were good, and a couple did great. I was mounting below my tint strip, but eventually, I moved it up behind it, above the rear view. This is where mine does great. The change in sensitivity from spot to spot amazed me, to say the least. Moving it an inch here and there greatly affected the sensitivity of the unit for some reason. It's almost like there are "sweet spots" scattered everywhere on my windshield.

I don't know; just something to maybe consider trying yourself. Small moves increased the performance of mine positively and negatively. It was a real process getting it right.

Mine does very well on K band in my area.

I actually had mine up behind the tint. I moved it down today to mid windshield and it seems better but not what I would expect.

My V1 is on the back deck of my car an though its not as sensitive as it could be back there, K band sensitivity has matched my M3's at times.

That is a first. I have never heard of someone mounting a RD in the back window.
