Very weird stuff tonight. StiR lost GpS so I turned it off and on. Symbol came on and speed stayed at 8mph incorrectly. Tried to reboot and it was just stuck. Wouldn't respond.
I tried the vol/sens reset and it finally came up gps err again. Then I turned the car off and on. Laser alert came up and I tried to mute. No luck. Next thing came up was mute err. Again I tried the vol sens reset and it finally came back up. I went through setting and turned gps back on and speed display on.
It searched and finally came back gps err.
WTF? I'll check all the connectors in the morning.
Bummed at the moment since the wife was with me and she was disturbed because I couldn't shut it the hell up on laser! Plus it's a mans voice and not a woman like the LIs.
Thoughts?

Where is the antenna installed? Does it have a good line of sight to the sky? GPS needs to pick up at-least 2-3 satellites to determine your exact location.

If you are sure its mounted in a good location then all you can do is check the connections. If that does not solve the problem contact Escort Support and have them troubleshoot the unit to nail down the problem and if a part needs to be exchanged let me know.

Maybe the cable got damaged? Check the GPS cable. Or Maybe even the control module cable. Look for indents where the cables inside could be severed.

Thanks Tom. Will do more tomorrow. I saw over on ER forum that someone else had almost identical issues w the EL so I may disconnect the DW module and see if it cures it too. Somehow I suspect that may be the issue. If so, I'll try updating the DW module too. We will get it figured out. Shxt happens. No big deal.

Ok, I checked all connections and reset the STiR and kept ultimately coming up w GPS ERR. I bypassed the ELDW and now have a solid gps symbol and the controller seems to be working correctly again. I'm going to leave it this way today and assure proper operation before condemning the EL. I'm starting to doubt the EL benefit but I'm willing to try updating it later to see what changes.

So I ran all day yesterday with good results. Thus morning I logged on to update ELDW and there are no updates. So I guess it;s my module that is whacked out.

Yeah, it was me on the other forum. What you just described is *exactly what mine did. When escort live direct wire module was uninstalled, all problems with STiR+ disappeared, and it's been behaving perfectly for a week.

Only feedback I got from Escort was that someone who is an employee there had "display issues" with the particular combination of STiR+ and smartcord direct wire and that they didn't have a fix yet. Hmm.

I disassembled my dash, permanently rerouted cables back to bypass direct wire, uninstalled direct wire and just shipped it back. If they have a fix I'm willing to try to install it again, otherwise, refund. Bummer. There are a decent number of live alerts in my area.

Well, I got a new STiR+ module from Bel to try and solve this problem but very quickly realized the EL DW is the problem. It does not play well with my plus.
Got it bypassed until the bugs work out.

STiR plus is killer by itself but I don't know if I'm going to bother running the RL too just to get EL back.
