I would like to start a thread for known speed traps or cop spotting for the Houston area. A place to post where police have been recently active.

Great idea!

Here's one from my area: Constables from Precinct 4 have been setting up at breaks in the median along Cutten Road between 1960 and Cypresswood on a regular basis recently. Most, if not all, of the radar has been I/O K band.

Seeing Pct. 4 running I/O kind of supprises me. I see them running C/O mostly. Even on the Hardy Toll Road (HTR).

Hey Won, I guess we can sum it up with saying all of Houston Metro Area, Huh! Actually, I hardly ever see any enforcement on the East Loop. Mostly between I-10 and the Ship Channel Bridge, but they are mostly working commercial truck enforcement. Although, I do see them with a four wheeled customer on occations, so caution needs to be excercised there. Oh, I see the Dodge Ram pickups mostly as well.

Thanks Snoop, I knew you had a bunch of pics. Went through your neck of the woods today on my way to Port Lavaca. Was videoing but nothing to post. Will be videoing on my way home tomorrow.

Constable shooting PLIII daily between 3-5pm on southbound side of BW8 between Clay Rd and Kempwood Rd.

Constable also on Northbound side daily same time and location, but typically is not shooting. Traffic too heavy.

Well, on my way back from Port Lavaca, I only came across one DPS with a cutomer. Weird thing is the trooper left his RADAR on and I had 2 Ka sources. I was looking for another but couldn't see one, it was dark. Can current dash mount RADAR's now transmit both antennas at the same time? I guess it could have been goasting as well.

Yes they can. Look at the stalker dsr2x. Stalker is now coming out with a newer system for the stalker dsr2x that can monitor up to four cars at once.

Drove down to Katy yesterday for my cousins graduation in my moms car. I only has my v1 and found a crown Vic in Conroe on the right sounder of 45 running c/o Ka off of his rear antenna and then he shot me with what I assume to be a pl3 off of his side view mirror. I'm thinking he completely forgot about the radar unit being on.

Wow, is that some of the new stuff RadarRob has been talking about by saying "stay tuned"? I have run across that once by HPD. Working LIDAR but had his RADAR on so I knew he was there well ahead of time. We might have to start rethinking our rabbit stratagy. Maybe trying to have multiple rabbits. But then again, if they are shooting ahead of us, we still should pick the shot up in time. Who knows what they will come up with next.

Yeah, I posted from my Thunderbolt and it has auto spell. I didn't realize what was posted was nothing I typed so I edited it on a computer here at work. I typed in videoing and it put a whole different word in and I didn't see it when I typed it.

Why do all of your locals have writing on the sides of the cars? Up here in DFW you will never see a ghost car, they are completely unmarked.
We have 4 of these that I know of in Allen now:

As well as 3 of these:

:D In Houston, the faded markings are enough to deceive the average speeder:

I think it has to do with people having the fear of getting pulled over by an unmarked and it not being a real cop. These are maked but very hard to see at first glance.

My STI-R Plus has been giving a speed trap warning for I-45 (North Freeway) around the Cavalcade overpass, and sure enough, this morning HPD had a customer pulled over on the northbound side. It looks like HPD likes to set up just north of the overpass so they can shoot someone just as they come over the crest of the overpass.

A state trooper has taken to hiding behind the bridges on 225 EB around Battleground Rd. He's been running C/O KA that my 9500ix has been picking up almost a mile away.

Big time rabbit save against Sugar Land PD this morning. Going 59 Northbound, a orange Volkswagen GLI decides it wants to run 90+ with me. For the past two weeks, a moto LEO has always set up a lidar trap right before the Highway 90 exit. As we're approaching this spot, I let the volkswagen creep ahead and back off till I'm over 10 car lengths back. Sure enough, Mr. fat popo is right there with his Ultralyte LR-B in his hand and the GLI tries to break for its life but it's too late. Rabbit gets pulled over real quick and I make it to work ticket-free :)
