First I must start by saying that I much prefer the old package on the RX65's and GX65's verse the new packaging on the new Pro Series. They have gone back to the 6x, 8x, & 10x (Range vs. others in its class)

PRO 100 - 6x the range of others in its class
PRO 200 - 6x the range of others in its class
PRO 300 & PRO 500 - 10x the range of others in its class

What exactly (In its class) is beyond me but as you get to the higher end models its clear they are saying sensitivity increases.

    Pro-Series-Lineup.

I have only unpacked the PRO-300 so far and I can say.

    1. There is no user manual. Strange but they only include a quick reference card and a link to the Beltronics website if you want to download a manual.
    2. The Smart Coiled cord was replaced with the newer Combo Smart Cord (Half Straight & Half Coiled)
    3. There is no more support for KU Band.
    4. The is still KA Band USA or International Mode
    5. They no longer include a carrying case

I like the new rubberized black finish on the new models:

    PRO-300-vs-RX65.

And you can see they did change the bubble lens which was on the GX65 and other newer models:

    PRO-300-vs-RX65-Lens.

I have not driven with it yet but I will take it for a drive tonight to see if the increase in range is noticeable in real world driving.

Not entirely true...they due include a zipper carry case when bought direct from bel. I ordered the rx65 20 days ago, returned it last week for the new pro300, and asked if the pro 300 comes with same zipper bag as the rx65 did and they all told me yes both online and direct over the phone. If your talking about the black pouch cheap case the 995 comes in then no, but it does come with the nice zipper carry case for the unit and the smartcord just like the rx65 does.(at least the one i got 2-3 weeks ago dirct from bel)

There is NO case in the retail boxes. Did they send you a separate case outside of the box? Might have done it as a customer service courtesy since you had previously ordered the RX65 but new units do not have cases. Smartcord is also the new Combo cord as pictured below.

    Combo-Cord.

    Inside-Box-2.

    Inside-Box.

No Manual only the little quick reference card on the bottom of the box.

Looks like the V940 through 995 and the RX65 models under a different name. Then the PRO 500 is the GX-65 under a different name.

The Lens on the new PRO300 is larger than the lens on the 9500ix. Not sure why they made it so much larger but I can only guess there must be a reason.

    9500ix-vs.-PRO300-Lens.

Have not taken the PRO-500 for a drive yet.

---------- Post added at 03:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:26 PM ----------

V940 New Model is the PRO 100
V955 New Model is the PRO 200
V995 is discontinued and was not replaced.
RX65 New Model is the PRO 300
GX65 New Model is the PRO 500

All have the new rubberized paint which has a nice look and feel to them. There are other slight differences but biggest difference is the new Lens on the PRO-300 which was not on the RX65.

Beltronics GX65 vs PRO 500 - Besides the new paint there does not seem to be much of a difference between these two. Still confused why the lens on the PRO-300 is much larger than even the PRO-500 when they are supposed to have the same performance with the exception of the GPS functions. There is a price reduction since GX65 was $469.95 and the new PRO-500 is $399.95 so overall its a good value considering the 9500ix is now $100 more and only feature difference is the Auto Learn on the 9500ix.

    GX65-vs-PRO-500.

Beltronics not only stole the Pro series brand from Whistler and now the bubble lens all in one. Ouch !

Is the pro 500 a metal or plastic case?

Sorry but you are incorrect. Beltronics PRO Series has been around much longer than Whistler. The Beltronics PRO Series was introduced in 2004.

Hmmm, the lens is wider and perhaps a little more pronounced. Not sure if that gives it better on-axis performance or better off-axis performance........or both.

Sorta related I suppose, the newer Stalker Radar antenna lenses (Black) have a more pronounced bubble than the older white lenses. Again, not sure if that gives them more range or a better side view........or both.

I'm tempted to buy one of these and put my S7 guts into it just to get the lens and cool outer case.:p

I'm hoping that the Bell units are more than just a face lift on the exterior skin of the detector.

I've heard of some other products having the manual on-line. Personally, I like having it on line but as a new customer, I would be really disappointed with this change on a product that you use in your car. It's not really easy to look at your computer screen as you play with the features of your new detector in your car. Hopefully they will reconsider this for future products. As a Bell customer, I hope this new line up is successful.

The bubble lens has been around since the early 80's........I remember the old Whistler Spectrum 2 had the plano convex lens in front of the horn as well as even older versions of the Whistler.

Here is a link to the patent.

Drove 300 miles with it this past weekend. In the city the unit is a bit scary because I have passed many normal false alerts (drug stores and super markets) and this unit stayed quiet unless I got real close less than 30-50 feet. I still do not have a manual for the PRO-300 so I am not sure if they improved false alert filtering but when I was hit with KA from a real patrol on the highway I had almost a mile of warning so its working but is definately quieter in the city. Did anyone else get one and notice its quieter than than the RX65?

Makes me wonder if the auto mode now works on K band in addition to X band.

A blast from the past! Didn't someone sell a stick on lens, available separately, very similar to that? I remember putting one of those on the front of my RS Road Patrol XK. Those were the days!

The M4 RX65 I have is quiet in town because it's K band range is terrible. But for some reason it does really well against KA band.

What I would like to see is the INSIDE of the new pro 300 side by side with the RX 65 . is it the same old M4 platform with new software and a plastic lens?

Another question , All detectors on the market are pretty silent where it concerns the Truespeed -S . Does this one detect it?
