    New Waze EULA

Interesting thought. I'm on Android and have been using Maps more than Waze for the last few months. Maybe that's why the EULA popped up today.

    New Waze EULA

I wasn't unaware about the data collection, was just caught off guard when they made it a "you're either in or you're out" proposition after all these years.

    New Waze EULA

True, but now I can't decline to share specific route information without losing access to the app entirely. Seems kind of heavy handed.

    New Waze EULA

I was surprised to find earlier today that Waze asked me to agree to share route information with Google Assistant. When I declined, it closed the app. So, it looks like I'm outta luck unless I want to give up more data to the big G.

Best all around windshield flagship detector - as of August 2019

Agree again with @DocH on the DFR7 performance. It's been running in my "around town" truck for awhile now and really hits the sweet spot between sensitivity and distraction. At 8 to 15+ PSL in town, it's dead quiet until a real threat comes into range, and has equal capability on highway runs.

    Silent Cops in Cincinnati Ohio

For sure. Last trip out to Cleveland, I saw an LEO in a depression on the median with just his low-profile light bar and distinctive X-band antenna poking up out of the hole. I got the alert as I was already slowing for my exit, but he was bound to nail some other unfortunate soul.

    Silent Cops in Cincinnati Ohio

In addition to laser and Ka, I've encountered LEO X band in Ohio on both the highway and in local jurisdictions. I usually have it turned off on my R3, but make a point of enabling it when crossing the state line.

Any LRD or even DFR folks out there?

Couldn't agree more. Picked up a DFR7 at a great price using the @Vortex discount code while waiting for Uniden to repair my R3. Kind of nice getting good, all-around detections in a "back to basics" RD. Got a killer off axis pickup in the middle of an upper Michigan cornfield at o'dark early...

    R3 Rides Again

This is a follow-up I promised @crabu2 in response to a thread started by @MUHooligan. My 2.5 year old, early serial number R3 burnt up on the windshield last month. It still powered on, but no longer detected any radar. After contacting the CS folks at Uniden and receiving an RA number, I...

    Waze vs google maps

Yes. I report all the LE activity I spot, as well as road hazards. Ohio has a particularly heavy enforcement presence, so I think they move around a lot too. Still, my rough estimate is less than 50% accuracy when it comes to Waze LEO reports overall. This is just my subjective observation after...

    Waze vs google maps

I recently started using Maps in favor of Waze. Waze lately seems to have more trouble calculating longer routes, and the LEO alerts--in my experience--aren't very reliable. On a trip through Ohio last week, I passed 11 OSP cruisers running laser that weren't pinned on Waze. I'd say you should...

Thanks, doubledge! All is well and I'm back out there, racking up the miles...

    R7 vs. Original Redline?

Thanks, Brainstorm! I've mostly recovered. Ironically, I had to change my role at work and am now driving a lot more, so the silver lining is that I get to test my RDs in many more environments.

    R7 vs. Original Redline?

I've gone back to running my original Redline while the R3 is being repaired by Uniden. I've got K band off, but it's still better than nothing, and after 2+ years of running the R3, my personal experience is the Redline is still GOAT on Ka. Off-axis is slightly better than the R3, IMO, and...

    R3 possibly DEAD

Will do. I was stunned for a moment by the fairly heavy smoke that started coming out of the perforations in the bottom of the case, especially because I have it mounted almost in contact with the dash of a brand new company vehicle. My first reaction was to get it off the sticky mount and...

    R3 possibly DEAD

My R3 literally went up in smoke last week and was behaving the same as yours afterward. After the smoke cleared and I restarted it, everything appeared to be fine, but I had no alerts of any kind during a 5 hour highway drive, and no response to some known K band sources in town. Uniden...

    R1/R3 Radar Laser Capability

Nice to know the Uniden is hot on laser. No direct hits of my own, but your encounter is consistent with the overall selectivity and refinement of the Uniden product as I've enjoyed it. Posted from my [device_name] using the RDF Mobile App!
