    Uniden R7 not detecting TSS?

Just for fun, I powered up my R7 on a bench and was surprised to find that I can't get it to alert to LASER with my TSSxb. Has anyone else found the same? I've double checked the settings to make sure LASER is on.

Confirmed K band usage on Mt Rose Hwy in NV

Just a heads up: I was traveling between Incline Village and Reno today, which is connected by the Mt Rose Highway. There’s a 25mph recreational area on an otherwise 45mph Highway where kids are sledding. At any rate, there was a Sheriff running CO K at 24.125 with a customer. Confirmed by...

    Max Ci updates (v1.5 now)

Noticed that the Max Ci has updated to version 1.5, up from 1.4 the last time I checked. I believe 1.3 and 1.4 were both said to either be running factory changes or to support something else. With that said, around the May timeframe, I somehow got Detector Tools Pro to output a firmware log...

More 35.5 sightings in Truckee area

I was on CA-267 on Saturday, and there was a white Chevy Suburban "Town of Truckee Sheriff Dept" vehicle parked on the shoulder shooting IO 35.5. So, definitely, as you get near the Tahoe area, watch out for 35.5 usage.

PSA: Seeing a LOT more selective IO from CHP on I-5, I-15

I drive to Vegas and back pretty frequently. I've mentioned this after a previous trip, but now it's more true than ever: CHP seems to have been employing a lot more selective IO — some on I-5, but especially in the Mojave Desert, e.g. on I-15. Their usual MO is that they park a few feet in...

Got hit by every Ka frequency between SJ and Tahoe

I've seen all 3 Ka frequencies on this road on separate occasions, but this is the first time I've seen all 3 on one drive. Definitely mostly 34.7 from CHP, but once again I saw a local Suburban SUV parked on the shoulder on I-80 around Truckee, running CO 35.5. Then near NV-28 on the Nevada...

    Max360Ci is selling well

So I’m back at my installer getting a sporadic “Replace RR” looked at. We were chatting a little and apparently they’ve been selling a lot of MaxCi systems — multiple per week is what I’ve been told. Just thought people here would be curious whether or not they’re moving them. As far as...

Saw my first cop on my commute in 700+ days….

He was on 85 S shooting near the 237 to 85 onramp. It must've been two different cops, because I got shot there twice, once on a day errand and once in the morning. CHP motorcycle, shooting a full-size Truspeed unit (which was odd, usually the motos like the TSS). Caught scatter in the...

Max360Ci and Uniden R3 to Vegas

Just a quick note, I drove to Vegas using these detectors. Originally my plan was to use the 360Ci for Laser and K band coverage and the R3 for Ka, but my luck improved. Turns out for one reason or another, when flowing at highway speeds I get very little Autopilot Ka falsing from the 360Ci. As...

    Uniden R3 and Audi BSM

I was actually slightly surprised, but hope that this helps Uniden resolve it... The Uniden R3 in City mode is one of the quietest BSM detectors I've ever tested, but a surprising PT culprit is the newer Audi's. I encountered both a 2016 facelift Audi A6 and the brand new redesigned 2018 Q5 in...

jdong's 360Ci Review: First few days after install

It's been….. quite a crazy week. On so many levels. I wasn't planning on a writeup today, but a great friend did a bit of arm twisting and helped change my mind. Apologies in advance for the sloppy initial notes, but I will update this thread when I have more info, and write up something higher...

    jdong's 360Ci thread, Part 1: Installation

(cc: STS134, OpenRoad) Installation: Just came back from Lott's, met Tim the owner. Awesome guy! We unboxed the system together, went over all the components, and went out to my car to discuss placement options for everything. Their initial suggestions matched my thoughts, but we came to the...

    Some days I don't get VR….

So I tried to order a replacement cable and extra SAVVY for my V1. I have an account on file with them, and an address. They held my order for over a week, and then reached out to me to ask for a California phone number, proof I live at my address, and the serial number for my V1. I ended up...

Seeing more selective I/O from CHP

Just a PSA: This is like my 10th road trip between here and Vegas, and this time I saw a surprising amount of IO radar usage compared to around a year ago when I last made the trip with CM's. On I-5 about 70 miles north of Bakersfield, I was going 77 in a 70, a Mustang passed me at what...

PSA: Don't try to use a SAVVY with Teslas

Hopefully this helps someone in the future: Newer-model SAVVY + 2017 Tesla Model S = no dice. The system just never powers on. It looks like SAVVY fails to detect whether or not the "ignition" is on. In all fairness, VR's website does blanket-warn that hybrid/electric cars are not supported...

    Radartest Max360Ci review...

The Max360Ci got a record setting 18 miles in a desert.... oh wait that's something else :D I didn't see this posted yet, but (with a huge grain of salt), our neutral friends radartest claim that the MaxCi gets around the same X range, slightly better K range, and nearly double the Ka...

Tech Support Animated header and energy usage

The animated header looks really cool, but unfortunately it comes at a cost. Looks like when it's on screen it uses around 10-15% CPU, and in the Broadwell power model consumes about 5-8W of energy which is a pretty drastic impact on the battery life for any laptop. Right now it is causing all...

Uh oh, the non-Tesla approach is the apocalypse....

Faraday Future announced their autonomous features are based off 3D LIDAR and now Delphi+MobilEye has one upped them: https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/06/delphi-s-autonomous-system-will-be-available-to-automakers-in-20/ If 10 radar sensors are on the car, you can bet some of them are...

Oh great, get ready for K-band to be an internet detector!

http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Google-Fiber-Delayed-in-Silicon-Valley-Wireless-Being-Eyed-137613 This passage really caught my eye: *internet*? Really?

PSA: Lots of 237 enforcement in the middle of the day

I was out for lunch and at both 12PM and 1PM, I saw CHP on 237 WB near the 101 interchange, Explorer SUVs, officer outside shooting TSS at approaching traffic. One of the traps wasn't marked on Waze and I reported it. This area is right between that dodgy 55mph vs 65mph PSL zone on 237, and...
