    Itronics ITB-100HD

    1) Well made unit.
    2) Nicely packaged.
    3) Uses regular size SDHC.
    4) Shock sensing can be turned off- unlike the Blackvue.
    5) Does not have voice notification like the BV, only beeps which I like. Keeps things simple. No Korean/English language drama.
    6) Good Contrast, Auto Exposure & Color Accuracy over the Blackvue.
    7) 1080P Recording @ 24fps.
    8) 720P Recording @ 30fps
    9) You can format the SD from the camera.
    10) I've read it does not suffer from the overheating issues- few Asian forums was the source of this info.

    720P Recordings @ 30fps

The Blackvue would have went to full dark mode with the Sun directly ahead as shown in this clip.

Does this do loop recording or do you have to format every time the card gets full?

Also, do you have any 1080p videos?

Yes it does loop and overwrites files. I just found the formatting from the cam (pressing mute button for 3+ sec) very cool. The BV went caput on me a few times and that would have been a nice feature if it had it to kick start it again. This cam is reliable and have not flinched once, but its nice to know I can if I wanted to.

I upgraded the firmware last night to 2.0 (came with 1.9), so I set it to 720@30fps to check it out. I'm gonna take some night clips tonight and up a few day clips @ 1080P.

    Here is 2.0 firm @ 1080P.

    Re: Itronics ITB-100HD

I noticed that it only does 24fps in full HD - do you notice a difference between that and the 30fps that your blackvue does? I like the looks of the camera unit and the fact that it takes a full size memory card. I'm not sure it matters to me that you can format the card in the unit, but that seems like it would be a handy feature.
I realize that the blackvue isn't the best into the sun and I know that the blackvue season II is supposed to have addressed this. I'd like to see comparisons between the 2. If for nothing else, to justify to myself to spend the extra few dollars on the ITB.
Also, how does the sound compare to the Blackvue? Did you do the sound / mic hole mod on yours?

Yeh, good work. I am looking at a dash cam, but frankly cant seem to commit. As soon as I make up my mind some comment comes along and shatters my thoughts! I am currently using witness on my iphone 4s. Seems to be great e3xcept it 1)rips through the battery and 2) is an issue wen when someone actually calls you on your phone!!!

Like the video quality and your review. What did it cost you and would you buy from the same seller again? Link appreciated if happy with him / her.

mrkookm: thanks, good stuff. was there supposed to be a quality change from 1.9 to 2.0?

BrightParrot: it's different from all cameras, but 24p (23.976 fps) is actually current cinematic quality (movie theaters use this, etc), so if you are worried about frame rate... do you worry about it when you go watch a movie in theaters?

As far as normal recording goes, 24p might actually be better (depending on the camera) because if it actually changes the shutter speed (instead of down-sampling the frame rate) - like it does with the GoPro or Contour, more light will be allowed in and thus better day and night shooting (lower ISO is required).

I did notice it at first, but honestly you'll get used to it after looking at clip, after clip, after clip...

Its just cool knowing if needed I can do it from the cam.

I realize that the blackvue isn't the best into the sun and I know that the blackvue season II is supposed to have addressed this. I'd like to see comparisons between the 2. If for nothing else, to justify to myself to spend the extra few dollars on the ITB.
In the BV Season II thread the clips I posted pretty much shows what to expect and I personally wasn't impressed. As far as pricing goes The ITB goes for $199~$220. The guy that has it on eBay @ $299 raise his price 3 days ago 'due to low stock', but he still sold me (my 2nd) for $199.

Also, how does the sound compare to the Blackvue? Did you do the sound / mic hole mod on yours?
Well I made the BV better and I did the same with this. Now they are comparable after the mods. It picks up ambient noise well.

Actually X, I really don't know and why I'm taking it in stages. So far it doesn't disappoint, so as long as they didn't make it worse.

    Good info.
